Hello Ryan,

 

I have to share this story with you.  Please feel free to share it with the Kiddos who pack the kits.

 

A veteran who receives monthly food assistance through the Soldiers Angels Mobile food pantry stopped me 2 months ago.  He had a Zips 4 Kids index card taped to the dash of his car.  The Index card was brightly colored with Crayola markers.  It had grass, sky, a rainbow, and a smiling sun.  The message says “Keep Going”.   This veteran asked, “do you know how I got this”?  I told him about the Zips 4 Kids and your story.  He said the index card has been on his refrigerator for almost a year and makes him smile.  He said, I feel kind of silly but this card from a young child really makes me feel good and keeps me going.

We can't thank you enough for coming last night!  We had a fantastic time and left the experience feeling like even our small part in helping will make a difference.  I am already putting together an email to our scout pack to try and get another packing event with you on our calendars!

Zips 4 Kids has been an incredible addition to our programming for the kids here at Denver Children's Home.  While our kids' backgrounds and treatment needs vary, they all benefit from acts of service like those afforded to us by Zips 4 Kids. The act of putting the care packages together and writing the notes of support is of great benefit for our kids. We hope that the veterans who receive our zips benefit even a fraction of the amount of joy our kids receive from their time in support of the Zips 4 Kids project.

Thank you so much for coming to our school. You made the process easy and accessible to all. The students enjoyed putting together the care packages and creating notes of encouragement!  The students left excited to be able to give back to others in our community.
